What is a PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) Camera?

Glossary Definition

A PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) camera is a device that can be remotely controlled to provide both vertical and horizontal movement (panning and tilting), as well as zoom. This is a movable motorized mechanical base for a camera or camera system. PTZ cameras are used to actively search a wide area up to 360 degrees and zoom in to a point of interest. Panning is a left-right movement. Tilting is up and down. Zooming in or out is the same as decreasing or increasing the field of view.
