What is a Wavelength?

Glossary Definition

A wavelength is the distance measured between the peaks of a wave. In an electro-optics application, we are typically discussing the wavelength of electromagnetic energy, which determines the frequency of that energy and where it falls on the electromagnetic spectrum. The wavelength or frequency is important in determining which types of radiation or light are detected by which types of sensors and filters.
